Boskovice lies on the edge of Drahanská vrchovina, 14 km north of Blansko and 33 km north of Brno.

Boskovice's historic centre, including the Jewish ghetto, has been an urban conservation area since 1990. A 13th-century castle stands above the town. In Boskovice, there is also a chateau dating from 1819 to 1826 and the Church of St James the Elder, dating from 1346.
