Veselí nad Moravou lies on the Morava River, 16 km south-west of Uherské Hradiště and 25 km north-east of Hodonín. A separate stretch of the Baťa Canal branches off from the Morava's main course here.
The castle stands on the site of a water castle and is surrounded by an English-style park covering about 20 hectares. The Baroque Church of St Bartholomew, dating from 1733 to 1741, stands on St Bartholomew's Square.
