Česká Třebová lies in the basin of the Třebovka River. The town's first written mention dates to 1278.

The Romanesque Rotunda of St Catherine stands in Česká Třebová. The square is also home to the Renaissance Old Town Hall, dating from 1547. The town museum was founded in 1887.
